Round one of the inter-house debate was held on 2nd October 2020.
In the first debate, Topaz debated against Sapphire with Sapphire garnering 251 points over Topaz’ 243.2 points. The second debate was between Ruby and Emerald with Ruby gaining 266 points over Emerald’s 256 points.
As a result, Sapphire was to meet Ruby and Topaz was to meet Emerald in the finals that were held on 23rd October 2020. In the first round of the finals, Emerald won by 211 points above Topaz’ 209, while in the second round Sapphire took the lead by garnering 219.5 points over Ruby’s 209.5.
Therefore the final positions for the 2020 virtual debate are as follows.

Position 1: Sapphire 219.5/300
Position 2: Ruby 209.5/300 Finals Emerald Vs Topaz
Position 3: Emerald 211/300 Position 4: Topaz 209/300

The patron of debate club accompanied students to inter-School virtual rhino cup debating challenge. This is an annual activity where our students take keen interest to compete with students from other schools.
This year the first round of the inter-school virtual Rhino Debating challenge, 2020 was held on 7th October 2020. The teams that took part in this challenge were Oshwal Senior High Academy and Braeside School. The motion was: “ that Vaccination should be made compulsory.” The proposers were Oshwal Academy, Senior High and opposers were Braeside School.
The teams of students who took part in this challenge were

- Aman Haria – third speaker
- Hafsa Hussein – substitute
- Mann Pomesh Shah – chair
The team did an exemplary job. They took the 2nd position with 238 marks while the winning team scored 240.5 marks.
The second round of the inter-school virtual Rhino Debating challenge, 2020 was held on 6th November 2020. Oshwal Senior High Academy was competing against Rusinga Academy. The motion was: “That people should not have more than two children.“
The proposers were Oshwal Academy, Senior High Academy and opposers were Braeside School.
Our team did well and they took the 2nd position with 225 marks while the winning team scored 245 marks.
The judge, Ms Beatrice Gaya Teyie, from Brook House Academy commended the participants for their excellent discussions. This was a very good learning experience for the students.
