The Breast Cancer Awareness Month, marked in countries across the world every October, helps to increase attention and support for the awareness, early detection, and treatment as well as palliative care of this disease.
There are about 1.38 million new cases and 458 000 deaths from breast cancer each year. Breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women worldwide, both in the developed and developing countries.
As the world observed the breast cancer awareness month, Oshwal Academy Nairobi Senior
High through the interact club held a talk on Fri- day 30th October. The talk was facilitated by guest speakers from the Nairobi Hospice Mr John Wekesa and Ms Winfred Mwangi.
The main goal of the talk was to raise breast cancer awareness to the staff and the student community. This was well presented by Mr Wekesa and the staff and the students benefitted in a big way.
There was a question and answer session where the audience questions were addressed.
